Welcome to the NEW StaplesPlayers.com
Over five decades, Staples Players has presented a wide variety of dramas, musicals, one-act plays, classics and original shows. This organization, one of the largest at Staples High School, has won countless awards and international acclaim.
The program has fostered a love and appreciation for the arts in scores of teens and propelled hundreds of alumni to careers in acting, directing, playwriting, technical theatre and other areas of the entertainment and arts fields.
Paris, France
Upon the August 2013 passing of our great founder, Craig Matheson, a scholarship fund was created so that those wishing to honor Craig's life might do so by making a designated contribution to Staples Players.
Each June/July some portion of these funds will be awarded to a Staples High School graduate that is pursuing the study of theatre and has demonstrated he/she possesses the same admirable characteristics and qualities that caused people to love and respect Craig.
He was a remarkably kind and compassionate friend, teacher, mentor and Westport resident that cared deeply for others and faithfully served his community.

Life is a cabaret, old chum.
And every decade or so, “Cabaret” comes to Westport.
Staples Players — the legendary high school acting troupe — first performed the darkly decadent show in 1984.
Directed by Al Pia, it starred David Roth as the MC. It’s a difficult role for anyone, but the senior nailed it.
Pia reprised the show in 1992.
In 2004, Players produced “Cabaret” again. David Roth was once again involved — this time as director.
He’s still at the Staples helm, and once again he’s staging the show. “Cabaret” runs next weekend — July 24 through 26 — as Players’ Summer Theatre Production.
Staples Players shows are seen by more than 15,000 people each year.
