During the COVID-19 pandemic, Staples Players transformed traditional theater into a series of creative radio dramas broadcast through Staples High School’s student-run station, WWPT “Wrecker Radio.” Recreating the spirit of classic old-time radio theater, the productions combined live voice acting, sound effects, music, and mock advertisements to bring stories to life for audiences listening from home. Featuring productions such as It’s a Wonderful Life, A Christmas Carol, and Dracula, the radio shows showcased the resilience and creativity of the theater community during an unprecedented time while keeping live performance alive in a completely new format.
